I started this blog for my daughters when they left home. I wanted to share a few easy, cheap and favourite recipes with them. Now ten years later, it's just where I put my favourite recipes.

Apple Crumble

So it wouldn't be any good as a recipe collection for you if it didn't have crumble would it!  So here you are:

Ingredients
225g self-raising flour
150g marg/butter
125g caster sugar

Method
Chop butter into small cubes and rub into flour and sugar - you know how to do this bit!
You may want to add desiccated coconut or chopped nuts, or sprinkle Granola over the top of crumble once in the dish.

Peel and chop apples.  Put in saucepan with a bit of water and some lemon juice, sugar and spices if you like (nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, ground ginger).  You can add raisins if you want.  Stew (boil) for 5-10 mins until apples look fluffy and starting to break up.  Lift out of pan with slotted spoon and put in ovenproof dish.  If you're not going to cook it straight away, don't put crumble on top yet as it will go soggy.

When you're ready to bake put in oven at 180C for 30 mins. Or lower temperature for longer.
